Plasma cutting has been one of the most widespread and appreciated technologies in the industry for years: a jet of gas in the plasma state melts the material in the cutting area and removes it, leaving a clear cutting line.

But how does plasma cutting work?
The plasma cutting process involves creating an electrical channel of superheated, electrically ionized gas (plasma) from the plasma cutter itself, through a grounding clamp.
This is accomplished by a compressed gas (in standard air) which is blown through a focused nozzle at high speed toward the work piece. An electrical arc is then formed within the gas, between an electrode near or integrated into the gas nozzle and the work piece itself. The electrical arc ionizes some of the gas, thereby creating an electrically conductive channel of plasma. As electricity from the cutter torch travels down this plasma it delivers sufficent heat to melt through the work piece. At the same time, much of the high velocity plasma and compressed gas blow the hot molten metal away, thereby separating (cutting through) the work piece.
In recent years, research has created high-definition plasma cutting technologies, faster and more precise in the cutting line, capable of a perfect clarity of the cutting surface.

What are the applications of the New Plasma Cutting EC220?
The New Plasma Cutting EC220 Ercolina can make two-dimensional cuts of any shape on conductive metal tubes, such as aluminum, steel, copper, brass or others.
The adjustable jaws system allows you to fix circular, square, rectancular and various shapes of tubes.
The applications of plasma cutting in the industrial sector are many.
The cutting of stainless steel, carbon steel and aluminium tubes, of different thicknesses, is particularly used in the transport industry, as well as in the refrigeration and air conditioning field.
The Plasma Cutting EC220 allows the cutting of large and thick tubes, a capacity particularly appreciated in the naval industry, but also for the creation and processing of pressurized tubes, as well as for the creation of grooves and inclined cuts, for processes of beveling or perforation.
